Robert Longo (born 1953) is a renowned American artist known for his diverse and impactful contributions to contemporary art. Longo emerged in the 1980s as a prominent figure in the Pictures Generation, a group of artists exploring the relationship between image and reality in the postmodern era. Trained as a sculptor, Longo gained widespread recognition for his large-scale, hyper-realistic charcoal drawings that often featured dramatic scenes, iconic figures, and powerful social commentary.
